Squalane
Squalane (with an 'a') is a light, silky oil that mimics one your skin already makes. It's the stable, shelf-friendly version: it doesn't go rancid the way raw squalene can, sinks in without a greasy film, and is considered non-comedogenic, meaning it's unlikely to clog pores. It's a perfectly nice moisturizer ingredient if your skin runs dry. Just know most of the evidence is about how it behaves, not big human trials, so it's a solid 'fine,' not a miracle.
what the evidence says
Squalane is the saturated, oxidation-resistant form of skin's own squalene; lab and review evidence describe it as a well-absorbed, non-comedogenic emollient, though rigorous human trials are limited.
